Decoration of Aidilfitri

The decoration of “pelita” actually symbolizes Raya itself as it shows how delight Muslims welcomes Syawal.  The lighting of “pelita” itself could brighten our mood to celebrate Raya.  Typically, “pelita” or oil lamp would be lit outside the house or usually in front of the house itself to welcome the guests to the house.  Lots of “pelita” would be lit as kids would also use it to play “bunga api”.  “Bunga api” also symbolizes Raya as it shows that Raya is fun.

Other than that, there would also be decorative light inside or outside the house.  It would be hanged along the house to expose the house more.   Many houses in Malaysia would practice this norm actually and it is actually a tradition by Muslims in Malaysia.

Moreover, Raya would be brighter if they play “Raya Songs”.  There are lots of songs that represent Raya and of course they would be played at the house or even at Radio and Television.  During Raya, there would be lots of commercials and television programs regarding Raya Songs then they would play the songs to indicate the Raya itself.  For instance, the most popular songs that compulsory to be played are “Suasana Hari Raya”,   “Balik Kampung” and “Menjelang Hari Raya”.  Actually there are my favorite songs during raya as it could burst out my happy mood in Raya days.
